All right, I pulled out all of my black powder guns today. Let's start with the rifles.

From top to bottom:

- Replica 1861 Springfield, .58 caliber. Awesome rifle.
- Model 1816 musket, .69 caliber, made in 1826. It's been converted from flintlock to percussion and sporterized (probably a very long time ago, like maybe before the Civil War).
- Replica .50 caliber rifle
- Another replica .50 caliber rifle

Image

Next up are the handguns. I won't even try to describe them all; let's just say that they're all cheap replicas, none of them probably worth more than $250 or so. Two of the single-shots are .50 caliber, one is .45. The revolvers are mostly .44, with two of them being .36. I didn't realize until today how many of them had accumulated; I haven't even shot most of them. icon_eek

I do have kind of an addiction to these cheap bastards . . . .

Whatcha got? Show 'em off!

Good chance that 1816 was cut down after the Civil War. They were popular surplus arms with the westwardly mobile population, useful as a shotgun or to harvest larger game within smoothbore ranges.

WTF . . . I know that cruffler and I are not the only black powder owners on this forum!

I don't care if you have one or one hundred. Post 'em up!

Nice open tops Steve... I think the 1872 Open Top is a beautiful design, very elegant...

Well, I'm not too worried about that because I'm fairly certain that you don't own anything made before 2012, or worth less than $1,800. :ROFLMAO:

But seriously, I don't care what folks have got. One black powder gun or 100. Post 'em!

Took this the other night @ the cabin, meant to post it, forgot.

Worst pic on the thread, as typical.

Oooh, that 1844 and 1850 are getting me excited....

Do you ever expect to shoot them? Or are they strictly wallhangers?

Oh my. I'm with Steve. That 1844 and 1850... I need a sock, some lotion and time by myself.

Hmm, I only have one. I might have to improve in this area.

Springfield trapdoor, 1873 (with 1879 improvements) made in 1883. This one made its way to the Oregon Guard in the late part of the century before my friend picked it up in 1954 in Tacoma.
Good shooter too!
