Eagle Scout on your resume used to carry weight at one time in the world. It means nothing today.

My dad was a troop leader when I was a scout. We learned about guns, and passed around unloaded firearms and discussed gun safety and operation. Try that shit today.
When my son was in scouts the troop leader wanted to put on plays and skits and learn about cooking. It was a pussy scout troop I guess.
I pulled my son from that outfit after the first meeting, and took him shooting. 18 years later and we still go shooting.

If this is an all-girl troop, then they aren't really changing the experience for other Scouts, are they? Or am I missing something? And yes, if I had to choose between learning to sew or learning to shoot, I think I'd try to infiltrate the Boy Scouts, too.

When i went to boy scout Camp they taught Marksmanship. I don't recall what the rifles were, but they were all the same with Peep sights. You could buy a block with 10 rds of .22 for a Quarter as i recall and we used smallbore NRA Targets. You qualified at "Marksman", then "Marksman 1st Class" then "Pro Marksman" and on. I think i may even have some of those Targets around somewhere from 45 Years ago. Damn i'm getting old.

PTHubby and I are both BSA Rangemaster certified, and we run the BB gun ranges for the Cub Scout day camps. The Scouts learn BB guns, archery, and wrist rockets. However, it is "wussified" in that it is only at district level camps or above. Our Pack can't go out and learn. This is fire kids through 5th grade.
I believe that the Scouts BSA (aka Boy Scouts) level uses. 22 rifles, shotguns, and Hubby thinks they now have muzzle loaders. Our son isn't old enough yet, so we haven't paid attention to the details.
The troops for girls just got their handbooks. The requirements are identical to the boys, nothing has been watered down. The pictures show kids with ponytails. That's the only difference we can find.

Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts have their own programs. Why must there be this integration? Maybe the Girl Scouts should introduce some of the things to their programs the Boy Scouts offer if that is the factor in this.
I don't agree with it at all personally, i think it's just a shame for both sides and takes away from both the Girl and Boy Scouts identities are.
What's next? Just "Scouts" i suppose.....Great, now you don't get your own Identity. I wonder if they will rethink this after a Jamboree or Camp out where Sally ends up Pregnant at 14 or 15.

I wonder if falling membership or revenue is what's pushing the Boy Scouts to expand. Seems like the Girl Scouts would be pretty upset that they might lose members if girls decide to leave. I don't know how they're structured or managed, never been involved with either group.
