Has anyone been to this place to shoot?

Is it open for shooting? Is it largely occupied on the weekends? Any info would be much appreciated.

No, this one I'm showing is off Highway 8 past the Ranch House BBQ. I've been to the triangle pit and am trying to avoid it.

I usually go to the south end of capital forest

There's not as many long range options but for setting up steel and working drills it is probably the best option

Consider Evergreen Sportsman's Club. It's only a little further south from the triangle pit. It's open to the public and the prices are
very reasonable. http://shootesc.org/

I'm trying to do some drill shooting. The RSO that was at Evergreen last time didn't really impress me.

I really do not think the prices are reasonable, or the availability of when the range is open.
Also, why has this gun club as well as the other one not far from this one. not extended their rifle range?
Evergreen' 100 YD range is not that impressive.

This is a late reply but I wanted to let you know that this place is not open.
Used to shoot there but as you may be able to see, there's a bike route behind it and due to proximity of bike route, forest management closed it down.

Had an altercation with a group of bikers there once (even though I was shooting away from bike trail).

This was about 4 months ago that I found out they closed it, not sure if it's open now.

ESC is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday through Sunday 11am-5pm (4pm in winter). If you get an annual membership ($75) it’s only $5 to shoot all day. The membership discounts apply to all ranges and services. Otherwise it’s $15 to shoot all day at a covered outdoor range. ESC is in the early planning stages of rebuilding its 200 yard range. There are also plans to build a much longer range, 500 yards or more. Capitol has a 200 yard range but requires a membership and is not open to the public. Granted, shooting in the forest is free, but you never know who will show up there. IMHO I’d rather spend a few bucks for a higher level of comfort and security.

A little late to the thread; I used to go there, what turned me off is that people leaving their garbage and I mean washer, dryer, propane tanks, glass bottles, targets, etc. DNR have since installed a gate maybe 10 years ago, to block vehicles from taking large object into the pit, however it is still happening. Now need Discover pass to use the area. Not to mention some people a like to mix alcohol and shooting out there. Someone has been shot out there, I think it was self inflicted trying to quick draw.

The OP is talking about a spot off A5200 I believe. I don't know anything about that one. I miss the old quarry pit for shooting Clay's though

I think I went there once about 2 years ago as I drove round Capitol forest to all the places on Google Earth that looked good. It was short..once you step off the road not a lot of room.
