Honest question here.
With these rigs running 15k$+, why not get a beat up Tracker/Sidekick, Tacoma, or even a CJ5, and build it up?
A CJ chassis and a 4BT will set you back 5-6 grand, torque out the ass with 30+MPG and 10k left over for upgrades...You even have PTO options for things like log splitters if it's a 'homestead' truck..
Hell, for 15k$ you could get a HMMWV..

Hell, for 15k$ you could get a HMMWV.. Completely different animal. You are talking Jeep type stuff. While the side by side isn’t normally used for the same purpose. The side by sides have way more speed and suspension that can handle bumps at high speed. The Jeep style vehicles are more crawlers. My razor is only a 570 with power steering. It does 50 mph and drives up into my long bed Ford. It fits between the wheel wells. It’s a little longer than a quad, but roughly the same width. It is a lot of fun and not a bad property work vehicle. I wanted the Yamaha rhino, but they stopped making them due to lawsuits. People would load up the dump bed and turn at fast speeds causing rollovers. I also own a 2003 Jeep rubicon set up for off road, so I speak from experience when i say they are completely different animals.

So, an off road go cart?
I can see the usefulness of something small and light enough to not need to be trailered everywhere.

Whole different animals. Most of the SxS already have features you will drop thousands on to add to one of the micro on/ off road rigs. HP to weight ratio is far superior. The SxS can be made and are street legal and tolerated in counties that have adopted thier use and even some that have not.
Due to thier design out of the box they are more versitile and will go more places than the street rigs and therefore more smiles per mile or dollar. Most off road street rigs are trailered to the play spot anyway, if ya break stuff ya can at least get her home still

Hell, for 15k$ you could get a HMMWV.. I’ve had fully built toyota with links dual cases lockers 40”s triple sticks I’ve had full width 1 ton cherokees I’ve had linked samurais with toy axles and 22re on 40s full hydro None of them touch what a rzr 1000xp is capable of. Way funny , you can crawl and go slow or hit whoops pinned. My rzr is street legal , I got harassed everytime I toook my Toyota’s or anything on the road .

paralysis by analysis. I think Honda is the way we're going to go. More expensive but drive chain rather than drive belt. (less breakage in winter.) Need dump capability for beer when visiting co-worker/neighbor in MT, 1/4 mile from us, in same Land Owners Assc area. Need street legal 70 mph for bar hopping 1.5 miles from property. Converts to 5 pax with a simple flip of the rear dump area. Great for plowing driveway in winter, and dodging logging trucks in summer. Hunting rig to get to the highlands in MT. Easily converted to slow snowmobile (limited to roads and under 12" of snow)
