This week we got the concrete poured for the wall footing and a small walkway to the sunbathing area

another update, more work was done this weekend

Early Saturday I moved one of the posts at the entrance to the pool enclosure, I wanted it to be behind the landscaping blocks and also to host a hose bib, so I dug it up, ran the plumbing and concreted it in place

Image

Then we started on the columns, we got them all done Saturday

Then today we nearly finished one section of wall, still need to insert the rebar and fill with concrete, then add the last layer of block and the cap

Started more landscaping, this is what the raised beds will look like, tumbled block with river rock border

Image

Queen palm on the left, pygmy date palm on the right

Image

I have to find a home for the scrap lumber and fill in this area with dirt and more plants. The palms are a Pygmy date palm in the front and a Pindo palm in the back

Not sure how much research you have done on palm trees out there..... but my BiL curses every year when he has to go out and cut the dead fronds off --- especially now that the trees are tall enough to be out of reach with his ladder and pole saw. You'll have a few years before thats a big issue for you..... Also that the palm trees tend to be a haven for rats nests and scorpions....

I wasn't sure.... I would not have known about it if my BiL hadn't told me..... Just like no one warned me about planting ivy or laurels here.... :wink05:

Palm TREES, to be clear. :wink05:

Yes, Casey was the most prolific palm tree daddy in all of the Pacific Northwest.

Yep, he had plenty of ‘em here in the PNW.

In fact, he had something like 50-60 for give-away on here prior to moving…
