Amendment IV The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
So, explain how you got a warrant for 1,000 safe deposit boxes.
You either have valid info, which points to a box, or you have non-specific info, which isn't enough to get a warrant.
One of the things that caused us to revolt against the British was 'general warrants'....

Well said. The founders fought the revolution partly over this.

I have to be very careful which of Lehto's videos I watch. The civil asset forfeiture videos just piss me off.
I'm just waiting for them to do it to the wrong guy.. If it takes them realizing that a dozen of their officers lives are worth the 10K in cash they seize... well... I'd just shrug and say that's what happens to thieves...

How it has ever passed constitutional muster is beyond me. You mean the police can just take some shit because they THINK it's involved with a crime? And keep it? And NEVER press charges against the person they took it from? And you have to SUE THEM to get it back? How is this NOT a 4th/5th amendment violation? We'd call that "stealing" if the person doing the taking didn't have a badge. Murderous. It makes me murderous. I know that most cops are just dudes doing their job, but I will have a hard time feeling remorse if one of them gets smoked performing one of these thefts.

I used to carry alot of cash just to be ready for any deals that may come up about $2,000.00. I don't anymore. Only about $500.00 cash.
Even the local LEO's can seize the cash, for ANY reason. You'll have a helluva time getting a receipt, and getting the cash back. Just not worth the hassle to me anymore.

The fact they they can pull shit like this off, as well as other things, or the fact that there are no longer any repercussions when mistakes are made, or laws are violated.
‘Til then, they’ll feel they have carte blanche to make ‘mistakes’...
