I've left behind my years of shooting crappy Tequila and three day hangovers

Lately I've been trying different kinds of fine, sipping tequilas and trying different types (blanco, reposado, anejo) to refine my tastes. Currently working on a bottle of Codigo 1530 Blanco. Our local Spec's (think Total Wine warehouse style liquor store) has an entire aisle dedicated to Tequila :thumbsup2:

Next up is Don Abraham Anejo I think. I really enjoy Scotch so finding that I prefer anejo barrel aged Tequila to blanco.

Just kicking off a thread to see if there are others on the forum that enjoy fine tequila if they want to weigh in with their preferences in types of tequilas or specific brands.

Tequila smells like vomit.

I will marinate some meats in Tequila but make sure I cook off the nasty parts.

OH GAWD!!!!! To this day, I still wake up in a cold sweat after nightmares of my first encounter with tequila back in 1978.
I could have died!!! icon_eek

Oh, I love a good sipping tequila. But don’t really have enough experience to weigh on what a good one is.
Maybe now that bourbon prices are through the roof for anything decent, I should switch to tequila.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. Really just figuring out my tastes in Tequila. Enjoy the top shelf Patron and Don Julio though diversifying now and have been trying random top shelf samplers, most recently the Codigo Blanco. I'm finding the Blanco is pretty forward, similar to drinking straight vodka. I'm trending towards the Reposado and Anejo tequilas.

Also enjoy a nice Mezcal from time to time though again no connoisseur for sure.

After college I couldn't get near a glass of tequila for about ten years I had been so sick on it. That time is long past though.

I am also just starting to experiment with tequila... well, decent tequila. It still gets mixed and usually resembles a margarita, but I am working on El Padrino Blanco, and Casamigos Reposado. Both are going down very easy.

Just recently enjoyed a bottle of Casamigos Anejo. Was very smooth and enjoyed that a lot. I may pick up both a bottle of Reposado and Anejo for comparison soon. I know the difference in theory but don't have a good gut feel for the taste differences yet.

My wife and I have enjoyed the Costco anejo tequila. But if is out we go with Hornitos at Costco. I've had some real nice sipping tequilas, but I kinda like the middle of the road stuff.

my wife's favorite is don julio 1942.
but since it's a little pricey for two coke cans worth of fluid, we usually get don julio anejo or a bottle of cazadores anejo.

either way, she's the tequila sipping person in the family, i'll stick with my blended japanese whiskeys or bourbon :)
