I can hear on a bunch of those. Sounds like they're doing a net on that Edgewood repeater right now.
Rocket, try 147.280 +0.6, 103.5, Tacoma, or 443.625, +5.0, 103.5, Sumner. I've talked to folks in Tacoma in that one too.

Anyone have a good study guide for the General test?
I'm slowly piecing one together on my own. Not much free time right now though

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Kudos to wanting to know the theory and apply it instead of just memorizing the answers. Sounds like you need an elmer. An elmer is basically a more experienced ham to take you under their wing, that will teach you what they know, using their equipment. I put some feelers out on some local groups.

See, what I did with the flash cards and practice tests is, I googled every single term I didn't understand, and read up.
Helped alot.
TW, this whole time I've been thinking YOU were our collective Elmer! HA!

TW, this whole time I've been thinking YOU were our collective Elmer! HA! I don't know everything. Part of being a good teacher is knowing when to say 'I don't know'... HF is definitely my weak point, especially the detailed physics of it. I can tell you what happens, but not why.

That's what I'm working on, but I can't do it in bits and pieces like that Not sure what 'learning model' it is but I need to organize info in a way that makes sense so I can file it in my little pea brain

I have restarted the comm plan a few times now. Kinda frustrating. I start working on it, then realize a flaw, then start over again.
I'm also interested in finding a way to link users over a data network, like wifi or cellphone hotspot, using a fork of the MMDVM project that supports encryption. Think of it as a mini repeater. Issue is, no funds. So, unless someone wants to buy one, then give it to me for tinkering, and I can give it back when I have it all figured out and can duplicate it for others.
The idea is, while the data network is up, ANYONE with as little as a shitty internet connection can reach anyone else with a shitty internet connection, fully encrypted, using the radios. Meaning someone in Spokane could talk to someone in Vancouver with virtually zero delay and no risk of the message getting intercepted. PLUS, the brain can be anywhere from half a mile to 50 miles away, depending on the setup. Meaning you could have it set up at your house, and be at your local safeway, and still in range.
Yes, there are encrypted SMS apps out there that do similar, but I'm trying to get this set up for the radios.
