Teacher arrested after planting live ammo in school to prove point about metal detectors, police say https://www.wsfa.com/2019/05/17/teacher-arrested-after-planting-live-ammo-school-prove-point-about-metal-detectors-police-say/Quote: SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (CNN) – A teacher in Massachusetts was arrested Thursday after leaving live ammunition in his school building’s stairwell to prove the school needed to get metal detectors, police said.
Police said Southbridge High School teacher Alfred J. Purcell III told the staff he found a live round of 9mm ammunition in a stairwell at the school shortly after 8 a.m.
The building was immediately placed on lockdown for about an hour.
But police said security video later showed that Purcell himself dropped the bullet on the floor of the stairwell before quickly leaving the area.
He returned about 10 minutes later and appeared to take a picture of the bullet with his cellphone. He then used his school-issued radio to call for help from the school administration and resource officer, according to police.
Investigators said Purcell admitted he planted the bullet to prove the school needs to install metal detectors. Also Quote: Purcell was charged with two counts of the unlawful possession of ammunition and two counts of carrying ammunition on school grounds. He also faces charges of disturbing a school assembly, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. Is ammo illegal in MA too? Ridiculous

Let's hope the prosecution and sentence has some real teeth in them so that it acts as a true deterrant to future antics.

In MA, you have to have a concealed pistol license before you can even touch a spent casing.

Same place where LEO were demanding and getting access to everyone's homes after the Boston Marathon bombing as they searched for the bombers. No warrants needed. I do not recall hearing that they kicked in doors during that event, but they were going door to door searching homes.

I was thinking about why anyone would do something like that.
Took me a while. Finally wondered if it was because he simply doesn't have anything else in his life that means anything.
Just some poor plodding fool with an absolutely meaningless life.
So he has to try to control other people's lives, to give some meaning to his own.
Toss his butt in jail, that'll give some meaning to his life!

Toss his butt in jail, that'll give some meaning to his life! It's the same illogical mind-set that spurred the New Zealand nut case to slaughter a dozen or more people... to protest gun-violence and bring about a gun control "crisis". Fucking nut cases.

What's weird is that he was being let go from the school anyway. They weren't going to renew his contract even before this fiasco. Guessing this was just the latest in a series of bad choices he made
The article said that he had a CT license to carry a firearm but it expired years ago. I can't find many details about it though. I doubt MA has reciprocity with CT for anything
