Glock 43 Extended Magazine Plates

Sun Aug 25, 2019 5:26 pm

Ok boys and 9 different genders that apprently I need to know about, here is a quick review of a few Glock 43 extended magazine baseplates that I have some personal experiance with.

Let me start this off by publicly saying that I am a total hypocrite as anyone on here can go back and look at the nasty comments I had made when news first broke about the Glock 43, I dont like being wrong but at least I will be the first person to call myself out on it.

After doing some shooting yesterday this G43 is probaby my new favorite Pistol but IMO the G43 lacks capacity but lucky for all of us their is a whole slew of companies who make cool stuff to change that so lets dig in...

I was very fortunate to snag an incredible deal on a lightly used G43 not too long ago on here that the original owner installed the Strike Industries Enhanced Mag plates which gives you an extra 2 rounds on top of the standard 6 for an OEM mag utilizing your magazine body and glock mag spring.

These fed well and added a great amount of real estate to the bottom of the mag but something about it didnt really trip my trigger and using the OEM spring to feed a few extra rounds seems kinda hokey as most companies selling their version of extended mag plates comes with a heavier duty spring

Here is what they look like with a few other homies...

Next up is the Vickers Tactical +2 Base plates that I was able to grab from a great member last weekend and let me just say that these by far feel the best and IMO look the best out of the few im reviewing today and they come with a beefy spring.

Last up is the Taran Tactical +3 Base plates (go big or go home) that are pretty neat but good lord are they spendy and add some heft to the little G43 mags and earlier I was talking about springs.....Holy Cow these are beefy!!! Now these feel pretty good but if I did it over again I would have went with the +2 models

So in hindsight I see another Vickers Tactical base plate in my future.

I hope this helps someone out there looking to add some capacity to their 43

Please be gentle this my first review...EVER!!!

Great review . . . and fantastic photos, too! thumbsup

Do you conceal carry this gun with the extended baseplate? If so, does the extra grip length bother you?

Thank you Steve.

I am currently looking for a Holster to fit my needs, I was thinking about heading to Kent on a day off to see if K-Rounds could make me something.

I have bought way too many holsters over the years online only to find that I dont like it.

Not trying to sound stuck-up but being a Lefty and a OWB to fit snug to the body can be a pain in the butt sometimes.

Nice job on the review, well done. I thought it would be tough to find a G43 OWB Holster, but here's a Review for the 5 best.

I've had good results with the Vickers +2 as well. It comes with an extra power spring.

I also like the Pearce +1 extensions, but they are better when also adding a Ghost +11% spring. The Pearce +1 fit the lines of the gun better than anything else and don't make it too big; those are what I carry in the gun on the rare occasions I can't fit a real pistol.

Hyve makes some nice stuff too. The trigger on my 43 was terrible when I got it. Tons or take up and over travel. Couldn't feel where the break was. The Hyve trigger fixed all that. It’s adjustable but I haven’t need to mess with it

Ghost sells the extra power springs too for about $4.

Also for anyone swapping Glock 43 mag baseplates: the GTUL tool makes it easy and is absolutely worth the money (~$12)

Thanks Yondering, I wish I would have known about that little tool before all of this as I just used the edge of my workbench and a hour of cussing.

Now with a tactical red lazer aiming system and long range illumination device....
