I didn't run out of anything. Our preparations worked out. Had food, water, wood, shovels, snow shovels... They only thing I could have changed were my truck tires. They're getting down there tread wise, but I figured they were good enough, and they were, good enough. I'd have preferred a little more traction though.
I definitely need to work out though. I got winded early when shoveling. Anyway, nap time.

At the vet with Chancho. Pets would be hurting if unable to get out.

It became clear to me that large storage is good but bad...
Good since you have it but bad for medium type of disaster use.
Like sugar in 25lb bags in place for long term storage means I have to cut into it, etc.
The need to parcel down into 2-5lb containers is my next goal.
So for folks that have long term large bulk. The next step is taking that “mid term” and breaking it down for everyday use or mid term storage.
For those that are just starting. Buy in bulk and start by just having smaller portions.
What I have learned from all these years is that storing food is cyclic and for longer term... one has to obtain, store and eventually cycle that back for use. Staging is the key so that say a 3 year can life means sitting for 1-2 years and then taking that can to be positioned to be used in year 2 or 3 and at the same time replaced just before being used.
The problem of long term is that most things are not going to truly last a lifetime of storing it. Plus it’s expensive to just replace and dump those “expired” now non edible items.
Also if I don’t plan on using that item in the later term of its life cycle... I tend to earmark those to be donated prior to expiring. So nothing goes to waste.
