I collect thimble berries and freeze them until I harvest apples for cider. The freeze/thaw macerates the berries and frees up what little juice there is. After the primary fermentation and first racking of cider I add the thimble berries into the mix. After some more fermentation comes the second racking and bottling. Usually I only have enough thimble berries for a small 5 gallon batch. Dang tasty tho - that tartness works magic! |

Blackberries around here are right on the cusp, some are some arent, just depends on exposure |

Hope the wife will make some cobbler this year! Blue berries have been full swing the last 2 weeks on the planted store bought variety, mountain berries should be coming on soon. Few guys started finding chanterelles and lobsters the last 2 weeks as well |
