So my 1950s pacific balance beam scale has become really unreliable. Scary amount of drift. It is getting retired after trying every thing to fix it. My Lyman 1200 digital scale was never reliable to begin with. So I’m on the hunt for a good long term reliable scale for my bench. What are your thoughts and experiences? Thanks Jake.

I bought an RCBS RangeMaster 750 some years back; I didn't have any complaints about it, it worked fine.
Then I bought an RCBS ChargeMaster, which is a combination powder dispenser and scale. Now I just use the ChargeMaster as a scale, and that's 95% of what it does -- I only occasionally will actually throw powder with it.
I guess my point is this . . . if you have any interest in a powder dispenser like the ChargeMaster or one of its competitors, maybe now is the time to buy it, and let it function as a scale as well.

A cheep digital scale simply will not do the job. The digital scales I used on the job cost a grand a piece. If your Pacific has become unreliable what have you done to it to try and fix. I use a 1010 scale to set up my Ideal #5 and my Lee Auto Drum so getting a digital scale is not a necessary if your reloading technique includes accurate powder drops. I would almost bet that there is a guy in the group that has an extra accurate beam scale that they could part with otherwise you can do as MadPick suggested.

I too have an old RCBS ChargeMaster, I use it for my more accurate (SHTF) ammo. Pics added. It is still reliable and throws accurate charges but I always check it with my RCBS 10-10 beam scale. All I can say is....WOW

I've only had a Chargemaster so don't know any better and can't justify spending the coin on something newer or more expensive.

Loaded since 1956 and won't use any electronic scales at all. Beams are far more reliable.

Switched to a CED (rebranded Dillon from Double Alpha) and it is so much better! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
