Lee APP press for decapping - works great

I finally spent the time to get my Lee APP press setup that I bought to decap brass. So far it works great and it has sped up my decapping chores considerably. I bought the decapping die and the self centering decapping pins specific to each caliber I needed (since the press pushes the cases along the process, the shell holder is slotted (Lee X-PRESS shell holders), it isn't a typical case holder, so without a self-centering pin if the case isn't lined up perfectly, it hangs up). I added the case collator with the four tubes so that quite a few cases are ready to go in one sitting and all I have to do is pull the handle. The case collator is pretty neat, it uses gravity to sort the cases, case end up, just dump in a bunch of cases, shake the collator and gravity does the work. I can deprime 1000 cases in less than 40 minutes, probably closer to 30.

For folks that don't care about cleaning their brass after the spent primer has been removed, this may not be a step you want/need. I like to clean my cases after deprimming so I found this to be a good solution. The Lee APP press contains the mess that spent primers make better than the press I load with (Classic cast) so clean up is much improved as well. I'm a moderate volume reloader and I use a single stage to reload (graduating soon to a Lee turret), so this extra step isn't a big deal. Your mileage may vary.

Nice! Are you using clean brass or dirty brass? I found mine hung up after a couple hundred dirty brass. I'm going to switch to brass done in the SS tumbler but not dried.

I use the lee hand press tool. I can use it sitting and listening to videos/audios and it is quite fast. If they are just target ammo I do not clean the pocket, if other they get sidelined for cleaning

Only downside is having to dump the primers often

Midway has the press in stock right now. Natchez has the collater and feeder in stock atm.

I use the APP press for cast bullet sizing and it's pretty slick for that, but I haven't bothered with it for any reloading operations. It certainly has potential to do a lot of different chores though.

FWIW for bullet sizing I ended up just taping a funnel to the top of the clear bullet tube (since they don't recommend the collator for bullets). It works the same way, just shake the funnel a bit and bullets drop down the tube. I can size 1,000 bullets in less than 30 minutes just taking it easy, which is faster than any other method I've found.

Dirty. I only want to clean the cases once and I like to clean the pockets. I also didn’t want to run them through my loading press to deprime because it makes a mess when the primer drops through the shaft. I’ve done 2000 cases at least and it still works fine, I anticipate it’ll need a cleaning soon.

I bought this a few months ago on Midway. I had to wait a few weeks for it to come in stock, I kept checking back. Sounds like it might be available elsewhere according to another reply.
