Well it happened. I’m no longer a virgin, I had my first and hopefully last squib load. It happened after I got my first progressive press. I missed the visual check prior to entry. Anyway it was so jammed I couldn’t shake it out and had to take it to a professional to remove it. bahabaha! I’m hanging the bullet and casing next to the hornady to remind me of the potential danger.

I've had a few squibs. One was my failure to put powder in the case; a couple of others were due to rifle ball powder that didn't ignite properly. Regardless, it's IMPERATIVE that every shooter understand what a squib is, the danger it presents, and how to react if something doesn't look, feel, or sound right.

The squib is something I don't think many people cover when teaching their buddy how to shoot. Definitely a great reminder!

I had a round go pfffftttttt once and felt no recoil so knew immediately it was a squib from my reload which was made on a progressive press. It ended the day at the pit since it was an EDC training day and that’s all I brought.

Had a squib once with factory ammo. It was with Perfecta 357 ammo in a Henry Goldenboy.
I handed the rifle to a buddy and he shot a couple rounds and then one just popped and jammed the rifle up. The squib just got into the rifling but not out of the casing.
After getting it cleared and working again, I was walking out to the target where we were shooting and noticed a 357 slug on the ground about halfway (35feet) to the target. Only rifling marks and no impact on it at all. I remembered shooting a set earlier and I missed one (odd for me) and I figure this is the one I missed.
It musta had just enough poop to get 35 feet outta the barrel. It was at the point I decided to start reloading. Since reloading the only rounds Ive had go "poof" or feel light were 12g loads at the trap range. Its easy to pop the shotty open and blow the smoke out and look for a wad in there.

Happens to the best of us. Good that you kept it as a reminder.

Also a squib virgin.
I'm sitting on 997 rounds of Blazer Brass .40. 2 rounds are smashed in and 1 round is missing it's primer. Thinking I may no longer be a virgin soon.

Had a couple. Factory reloads. No damage, thankfully.

Is that bullet, in the second picture, still attached to part of the case?

Don't think it's possible for a bit of the case to make it down the barrel like that. Second pic was easy enough to plier out. The first one I had to use a rod and wrong way it down the bore.

I wonder if you could have made a lightly charged blank to pop them out?

I think this is doable with a locked breech gun (like a bolt action), but doubt it would be all that efficient with a revolver. I looked, there are companies making half and full charge .38 Special blanks, so there is that.
