Oh really, ya think?

CNN Op-Ed says Stevens’ 2A repeal demand would lead to violence

In a scathing Op-Ed published surprisingly by CNN online, the chairman of the Cato Institute has warned that repealing the Second Amendment, as urged by former Supreme Court Associate Justice John Paul Stevens, would lead to “turmoil, lawlessness and violence.”

It would lead to violence, no "could" involved. I sleep well at night knowing I am on the side that has the ability and desire to defend myself.

Don't kid yourself. Leftists can be quite violent and dedicated.

"To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will allow...

For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding." - Jeff Snyder

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

" the Leftists. "
They were members of NSDAP in the early 1930's and are still using those tactics. Call them Left or Right... a fascist by any name is still a fascist.

Irritates me no end that these folks think that our rights flow from the government, or that the 2nd Amendment (or any of the first 10 amendments) grants us rights.

As soon as people say "no right is unlimited", they are peeing in your tent. I think frankly that is when the grand train wreck started in the USA.

They say it about the First, "no one has the right to yell fire in a theater".......well the government can't pass a law against it! They can make the starting of a mad panic illegal, but spoken words, no.......murder is illegal, but they can't ban the possession of any rifle by an innocent citizen. This whole mess got slippery earlier in the USA than people think. Such thinking flopped it to Government control, ie flowing FROM the Government.

I believe Heinlein said it best: "Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire"

beyond that, those that want to be controlled, also want to control others, which is morally wrong, no matter what book you read.
