It seems everyone has been on a magnum kick the past 6 months. A pair of Lapua magnums and I just completed the first of several 300 Win Mags.
Build Sheet:
Remington 700 Long action: blueprinted with 8-40 screws, Krieger #6 contour, fluted, muzzle measures .780, glass bedded in a Manners MCS-TA stock. I Gun Koted the barreled action in tan.
Its getting shipped off to Arizona tomorrow. This is the 20th rifle I've built and I think its the coolest! About 25 hours worth of labor is in the rifle. It weighs 11 lbs without the scope.
When I send a rifle out of state I like to test fire them. I'm not used to shooting a magnum and I did have trouble on the 3rd shot of the groups anticipating recoil. Group #1 is at 9 o'clock, the high shot was the cold bore. Group #2 is at 6 o'clock and was the tightest about .550 center to center.. Group #3 is centered, this group should have been the best, but I jerked the third shot. I was shooting new-manufacture 190 grain match from Black Hills.
