Nice. Let’s get it done quickly while we still have nine justices!

Fuck Roberts, we don't need him. 5-4 is just as binding as 6-3.

Roberts sided with the majority in Heller, so it's not clear he would vote against this.

There's a good summary of the case here:

https://www.firearmspolicy.org/nysrpa-v ... tside-home and their Amicus brief itself is a great read: https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/ ... 0Brief.pdf

I am trying to figure out who is driving this, as in, where do I donate money so they can do the best damn job possible in court. FPC has a donate link (here: https://secure.anedot.com/firearmspolic ... ode=donate) but is that the best place? Is SAF involved? Anyone else?

SAF's statement here doesn't say if they are filing an amicus brief or contributing: https://www.saf.org/saf-hails-high-cour ... ment-case/, they take credit for a foundational case this is built on, but seem not to be parties to the present action?

These organizations collectively filed an amicus brief in support of the right to carry concealed:

The following law enforcement groups and state and
local firearms rights groups are amici curiae in this
case:

National Association of Chiefs of Police
Western States Sheriffs’ Association
California State Sheriffs’ Association
International Law Enforcement Educators and
Trainers Association
Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund
Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs, Inc.
Bridgeville Rifle & Pistol Club, Ltd.
Connecticut Citizens Defense League
CRPA Foundation
Delaware State Sportsmen’s Association
Gun Owners’ Action League Massachusetts
Gun Owners of California
Hawaii Rifle Association
Maryland State Rifle & Pistol Association
Vermont Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs
Vermont State Rifle & Pistol Association
Virginia Shooting Sports Association

They filed a general Amicus brief outlining the history of the right to bear arms: https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/ ... 0FINAL.pdf

The NRA's statement: https://www.nraila.org/articles/2021042 ... carry-case

Calls the case "NRA backed" and NYSRPA is NY's NRA affiliate. But still not clear where to donate other than FPC, which seems like a good start.

NYSRPA's website is horrifically out of date with their most recent press release being from 2015, so I couldn't tell if they have a legal fund backing this effort.

Maybe. Maybe not.

But of all the things that could happen in 2021 that will impact your rights as a firearm owner this is it.

If we win, WA legislature can't do diddly squat about the most fundamental firearm rights that you have.

If we lose, expect WA and other anti-gun states to react by eliminating the "shall issue" clause and taking away very many of your rights. Every year they pass another 2-3 laws chipping away at your rights, adding restrictions--chip chip chip. This case is a legit chance to stop the worst of that.

Sure, you can "resist" through non compliance - but it'll be so much better for you if USSC has your back. We need to win this.

I had serious qualms until we overcame Roberts grip, he probably styled himself as the new Kennedy or God help us Souter.

While Roberts sided with the majority in Heller and MacDonald, for years, even after Kennedy was gone, Roberts did not vote to grant cert to any gun cases. Clearly him "fearing" Kennedy on behalf of gun owners was a BS explanation because when Gorsuch and Kavanaugh got in, Roberts was still voting no for cert on many gun cases.

Fuck Roberts to hell, hopefully with ACB there now we can get a good decision authored by Thomas, the best judge.
