"Advanced" copy of the document being released tomorrow. Shortened comment period for sure.

Fun stuff:
Quote:
...Consequently, following issuance of this notice, ATF and DOJ plan to implement
a separate process by which current possessors of affected stabilizer-equipped firearms
may choose to register such firearms to be compliant with the NFA. As part of that
process, ATF plans to expedite processing of these applications, and ATF has been
informed that the Attorney General plans retroactively to exempt such firearms from the
collection of NFA taxes if they were made or acquired, prior to the publication of this
notice, in good faith. This separate process may include the following options:
registering the firearm in compliance with the NFA (described above), permanently
removing the stabilizing brace from the firearm and disposing of it, replacing the barrel
of the firearm (16” or greater for a rifle, or 18” or greater for a shotgun), surrendering the
firearm to ATF, or destroying the firearm.
Until that process is separately implemented, and absent a substantial public
safety concern, ATF will exercise its enforcement discretion not to enforce the
registration provisions of the NFA against any person who, before publication of this
notice, in good faith acquired, transferred, made, manufactured, or possessed an affected
stabilizer-equipped firearms....

So if this follows through, people like me who have never done a SBR say we get these free stamps , and pay out of pocket for the engraving( which I don’t even have a fucking trust ) then at that point would we be able to leave the braces on the pistols when they are sbrs or do we have to put the real deal stock on ?

If you have an SBR stamp, why wouldn’t you pull off that shitty brace and put on a real stock?

Because I’m totally fine with my braces, they work just like a stock and that would mean I would have to buy 8-10 stocks . Money I don’t have to spend, and most aren’t cheap !

So we get our money back if we registered SBRs before this rule change?

Sweet. I'm totally glad I SBRed the two lowers that have braces on them

"...current possessors of affected stabilizer-equipped firearms
may choose to register such firearms to be compliant with the NFA."

I'm wondering if this may only affect owners of the SB type "braces" that they recently shut the door on?

So FUCKING generous of them...

I've been thinking about getting an SBR so might take one free one, but definitely not converting ALL of them. Just remove the offending brace and replace with a compliant one.

For those with no previous Stamps or NFA stuff, i would take a hard pass on their "Free" stamp and registration. Those of us with Stamps already? Might as well take the Free one's since we are already on their Radar.
Either way, it's complete Bullshit and nothing more than trying to get those Pistol's on the "books". :cussing:

Submit a comment! We need millions of comments to be submitting opposing this insanity!

Congressman Dan Crenshaw (who is a badass) submitted a comment, which I think is really well-written:

Yup . . . that Dan Crenshaw.

The video is entertaining, but please don't lose the message here: We need your help! Please submit comments to the ATF!

I wonder if that doesn't deserve a separate post that is pinned to the top of the most relevant subforum with the most traffic?
