A guy I carpool with was issued a permit I think in January. He hasn't received the paper permit yet despite trying several times to get it. After a scary incident last night, we both want him to be able to carry. Can he legally do that? Does the law require you to have the physical permit to carry?

Also, is there a way for him to verify he actually has a CPL, especially in writing? The SPD and King County have both told him it was issued, but he has nothing in writing to show to a cop.

You have to carry and show your cpl to police officers when requested as long as you conceal carry.

This web page talks about getting a replacement CPL if yours is lost . . . has he done this?

I am curious how he knows his permit was issued when he never got it? Only notification of way I have ever known I was issued or renewed was when the card arrived...
