Good video but this guy should have seen the writing on the wall when the company was bought out but he did not pay attention to the signs.

We had a similar situation when I was going to a private college. Administrators had polluted the student body constitution with anti gun agenda. Fortunately I had access to what was in effect before which was in line with Washington State Law and since the college was founded with a governing council that by statute has to include select student government leaders I was able to force the return of legal statutes for carry.

I was outed from the get go my faculty advisors knew I carried every day. The janitors knew I carried every day the president of the college knew. I was one of the persons that was sought out when something sketchy was going on on the campus. For the college to get their federal and state student aid it was required that they follow Washington state law. I had them over a barrel with their funding and they knew it.

I did this when I was Vice President of the Student ASB in my second year because the college had no campus security. I served two two year terms as ASB Activities Manager after that. We had functions with 500 people in attendence and there were several of us that were armed at each function watching for problems.

Def food for thought, and a decision each person has to make with open eyes. Unfortunately for him he was a commissioned salesperson and as he said those positions often take time to built a client base in to pay the bills.

I do question them making him pull up pants, shirt etc, seems like a reach and beyond what is strictly legal. Again, they could jut fire him for not complying, but then he would have a civil right case, actually he should have anyway for being forced to do that to begin with? not surprised they searched his office/bag as that has been set in precedent previously, with regards to vehicle in the parking lot. But isn't your person usually a different deal unless you sign consent ahead of time as part of employment? I have not seen anything in any handbook at any employer saying they can demand to search your person at any time for any reason.

That was a pretty intense video, better than I expected it to be. I watched it at 1.5x speed, definitely the right choice.

My employer doesn't allow firearms, and I have chosen not to carry because of the risk of this happening. I have too much into my career, but on the other hand I do feel like an asshole for being defenseless in case a situation DOES arise where I'd want a weapon.

My biggest fear has been exactly what happened to the guy in the video. People at work know I own guns, know I like guns, and know that I carry outside of work. And yeah, sometimes they make jokes or comments just like that guy's coworker made -- not ill-intentioned comments, but comments that could land you in a sticky situation pretty easily if the wrong person heard them. So, I take the safe path and leave the gun at home.

Fuck this irrational fear that so many people and employers have!!

Same here...even so far as to say they would come to my house if things went bad and they needed protection. icon_eek

Here's one for you that happened at work last night.

I was coaching a QA on proper procedure and how he cannot be forced into an unsafe situation for the sake of a bean count for manufacturing.

I had shutdown one of these situations last week and drew the ire of a manufacturing Manager. This QA was involved in that situation and was having a further conversation with him when the Manufacturing Manager noted walked by.

I told the QA not to put himself in a bad/unsafe situation due to pressure from Managers like that guy, (I pointed at the manager, i didn't even think he saw it) and went on my way.

Noted Manufacturing Manager called mine and told him he felt "Threatened" because i pointed at him. It was strictly a way to try and get back at me for standing up and telling him the previous situation was unsafe and making sure the new QA understood he could do the same.

Point being, that was a potentially bad situation for me. Fortunately my Manager stood up for me and pointed out all the proper Processes they had failed regarding the situation that were unsafe and that if we had elevated it he would have been in a bad spot.

That shut the Manufacturing Manager down (as far as i know) but an allegation like "Feeling threatened" and that i am a gun guy could have gone really bad.

To much to ruin a good career for. Working with prior and current military we can freely talk about guns, but being on a military base you can only bring a gun if it's registered and going only to and from the shooting range. Or bringing it home from the PX.

Woah.

I'm so glad my boss likes guns, too.

Yep. Same situation here, but my EDC is hidden/locked in my car.
I remember my first day at work here, almost 10 years ago: at the time I also worked part-time job at the gun counter in one of the local box stores, and I did not know that guns were not allowed on the premises here, so I carried G34 in OWB! :ROFLMAO:
My coworker mentioned that I can be fired on my first day, so I just left my gun in my vehicle.
Interesting that the company's owner saw me walking back and forth on the floor with my monstrous G34 sticking out of from under my T-shirt and said nothing.

Two things......facilities & companies that forbid employees to carry weapons should be held legally responsible should a mass shooting event occur

secondly, I have always believed and will continue to believe that man's most dangerous and valuable survival tool is between his ears. Don't get me wrong, I would always prefer to be armed, but when unarmed a clear head and plan of attack/plan of escape is often what separates survivors from victims

Pistol is in my vehicle at all times while I'm at work, several workers carry against company policy. And the place I work is heading the same direction as the video guys place new management the whole rigamarole. Old boss had an akm in the corner of his office just as a conversation piece, x military well respected and would bend over backwards to help anyone no matter the situation. Even bought houses to rent to employees who were on hard times. Bought cars for people to get to work. The new guy is a commifirnia pig anti everything been hiding in his mansion since covid started buying hand sanitizer by the gallon weekly. From ma and pa company with the employees best interest at heart to big league corporate bull shit in 2 years. I refuse to go anywhere unarmed, at the very least during work hours have a knife on me and quick access to better. Work within 100' of my truck all day so short distance to fire power should the need arise. In reality the situation that would happen would be country or global scale where I need to get home and at that point I have my weapon. Not worried about much at work. And yes I keep my damn mouth shut about it

Watched the whole thing. Bugs me this guy is so well spoken because the things he's saying are awful. It's not a teachable moment. This is the opposite of what we need. If we have gun people even in Texas turning Cuck-Fudd we are in big trouble.

If this attitude were prevalent we never would have gotten Trump, SCOTUS changed, and importantly NYSPRA vs NY as a new landmark decision. The secondary effect of that case will be to lead to not only acknowledging public carry as a right but also eventually enforcing it as a right even in private settings the way anti discrimination laws are enforced, even if we need to amend those laws but I suspect that may not be necessary, at the least such laws can be begun at the state level, lots of states have their own anti discrimination laws stricter than the feds. But that won't come from putting your head down and meekly accepting bullshit.

When he got to the part of the video where he started mocking and deriding the known mantras of "better to have it and never need it" I almost closed the video. This guy has been reemed. Ironically when he talks about "people you know, people you fist bumped, people you nodded at, you can't trust them," he was actually describing himself. This guy is broken, and it's sad. Definitely not someone we want as a firearms advocate or social media "influencer." He was at least honest when he mentioned he wasn't particularly brave or courageous. At first I thought that was just a rhetorical device but by the end I realized he really meant it.

I get careers are important, but we have to live our values or we're done and gone. We still have a chance to save this country.

Be the change you want to see in the world
