I really needed an inexpensive percussion rifle for loaning out to people who are new to muzzleloaders when I take them to the range for training. So I went pawnshopping and found a bargain at the first pawnshop I came to. The outside was dirty with dings and light surface rust. But the bore was clean and the lock was functioning like it should. The price was $149.95, sold! The price came out to $165.39 after tax. I took it home and cleaned it up. I took it to the range this morning, used a fixed 75gr volume measure with Shuetzen FFG blackpowder, I also used the cheap stuff too. An old bottle of American Pioneer Powder FFG equivalent BP substitute. I was using storebought swaged .490 ball and pre-lubed patches. Out of 11 guys I was with this morning, I came in 5th place in our casual match. We were shooting paper targets , crow at 25 yards, deer at 50yds, bear at 75yds, and buffalo at 100yds.

I've got the "Plains pistol" version of the same thing; it's always been a great shooter and has taken several deer. It's very accurate with .490" patched round ball and a similar charge of FFG.
