So I used to take my son with me to the indoor range at discount guns so he can practice with his 10/22. Recently they changed their policy and kids have to be 12 years old now. Anyone know of places in king or pierce county I can bring my 9 year old?

One thing when kids are on range - the focus is the child shooting. Don’t plan on shooting. The ranges want to see an adult watching and helping kids at all times.

RFGC has a FREE kids shoot once a month.

What kind of shooting? Rifle is most common. Handguns will Depend on child/gun. Shotgun is all about size of child.

Also to note for taking kids to RFGC with a .22. You can shoot on the pistol range (15-50 yards) and the best part. So long as the kid can keep all their shots on the backstop. They can shoot FAST!

Take some clay pigeons as reactive targets!!

Also to note I started taking my son at age 4 and he is 9 now. He can make that 10/22 fire like he had a bumpfire stock on it. So be warned. It becomes costly after a while.

Issaquah Sportsmen’s Club. Very kid friendly. If your son likes to shoot his 10/22, they have a 22lr specific lane for shooting some steel targets.

Forgot to mention for Pierce County

Tacoma Sportsmens Club. Took my son there and he was free.

Told them I wasn’t shooting and the range was totally free.
He was 7 at the time (2 years ago).

Only downside was that we shot on the rifle range at 50 yards and couldn’t use the pistol range with a 10/22 rifle.
