If you look at almost any gun range within Western WA. You will almost always see it surrounded by homes.

There is a thread here on the Duvall pit.

Map and list is awesome.

Suggestions:
- split the list into indoor, outdoor (private/club), public lands.
- have a list that includes lat/long as text (for programming into GPS)
- links that open google maps or similar in a new window. The embedded map doesn't work so well on some browsers/devices.

Thank you.

I like the idea of the public private, considering I'm only interested in a public one near me. Still need to shoot my p95

I think the best way to accomplish #1 is via changing the flag colors. #2 all the locations have an address or lat/long in them. #3 I'll see about that

Thanks. Re #3 You could also put them all in a KML/KMZ file. Or you could use geohack.

We have a couple members here who we have talked with about making this an actual "app". I'll see if I can re-spark the conversation.

The KML/KMZ file would be cool, but then I would need to maintain 2 separate DB's. The one that the map pages are currently based on is a Real Estate mapping program that can be customized to the user (to some extent).

I have a couple of spots you can add.

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=47.43534 ... =0&iwloc=A

Clearcut area I went to last summer. Park off the road, walk in ~100 yards. No backstop, there are buildings 1 mile away (although through trees) so please, nothing high-powered. There are stumps and such to staple targets to. Good spot.

In OR, but a good spot as well. Multiple areas, all with 150 yards to shoot, good backstops, etc.

Thanks! I am going to leave the Tahuya one off until I can get some eyes on it... As you mentioned, there is no backstop and houses within range.

Good idea.

Personally, if I lived in those houses, and heard anything coming anywhere near, I'd be shooting back.

This is near Packwood, WA. Nice spot, backstop is a wooded hillside. Last time I was there (last August) there was minimal trash. I'm making a trip there in two weeks, will update on conditions then. Nearest homes are about 1/4 mile away, but in the opposite direction of shooting. I believe there are other smaller pits further up the road, but they're not worth tagging. Local shooters frequent it, but they're friendly for the most part, and I've yet to meet anyone who was a moron regarding safety.
