New to the boards, at least as a member, I have been lurking for a while. I drove down to Capital forest today to do a little shooting with the wife and found the Upper Quarry shutdown. There was heavy machinery and a guy staying in an RV to monitor the site. I was just there a few weeks ago and it was fine.
Stopped by the Triangle on my way back down and found the WAguns.org sign gone and No Parking signs everywhere, though the signs were hand written the backs of them were clearing work signs. Did not bother to walk to the pit to check the status. Not sure whats up there.
Any updated info on these 2 sites would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to WaGuns, officially. :)
The pits in Capital Forest are working DNR rock mines and will be closed to public access periodically for mining operations.
Nothing new. Normally DNR posts notifications previous to operations but not always.
When they log they will also close certain areas to public access as it is a working forest.

As an alternative, check out Evergreen Sportsman's Club. It's affordable, friendly and local. Www.shootesc.org.

I was up there yesterday, beautiful day (30 APR 2016) and it is definitely closed. Seems to find a good place that is safe where not too many people are youy have to go deeper in Capitol Forest unless you want the Pit. The pit is good, if I shoot there I go early.
