Just traded emails with:
Jesse Sims
Recreation contact for Tahuya State Forest, Green Mountain, Hood Canal area, Kitsap and Mason counties
Washington State Department of Natural Resources

jesse.sims@dnr.wa.gov

I'm planning Man Camp in a week and noticed there were no shooting locations on the WAGuns Shooting Area Map. So I ask Jesse and this was his response.

To Jaime,
Target shooting is ok in the Tahuya! The only thing is you can not shoot from or across a trail, from or across a road, from or a cross a recreational facility. The Tahuya is littered with these! So... You as a shooter need to make sure you have a safe backdrop, know the flight pattern of the bullet (walk it first, from start to finish). Lastly clean up after yourself! You should be fine and have fun!
Sincerely, Jesse Sims

So if you go shooting don't fuck it up for the rest of us. Clean up and shoot responsible.

Nice! I removed some of the Tuhuya spots because of confirmed reports of private property and no shooting signs. I think I'll put a placeholder back in the maps, right in the middle of Tuhuya with a copy of the text above and a big disclaimer to make sure you are not shooting on private timber property (which is all over the place up there).

Thanks!

Jaime, could you post up a spot you found that was good to visit if you find one? I checked out the last site someone had said was a good spot but found it was VERY posted as tree forest land and NO SHOOTING everywhere.

I need a good spot local to me.

I will look next week. I "heard" Blacksmith Rd has a couple but Google Earth showed some close structures and some not so great lines of fire. I have set up shooting ranges in the military(shooting houses and BRM ranges). I have a basic understanding of range fans, trajectory and maximum range based on round fired. The map of a few locations don't look good.
