Hi everyone. I'm going to be traveling to Seattle with some friends next week for a little vacation. We're renting a place in Maple Falls for a few days, with most of my friends planning on hitting up Mount Baker/Glacier for snowboarding. I'm not much of a snowboarder, so I figured I might try to bring one or two of my guns and do some hiking and plinking in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. I've never been to Washington before aside from a quick layover (I'm in Michigan, for what it's worth). I'd probably just be doing some simple shooting from prone and standing with an AK—just some recreational blasting. Will grab some targets and a simple stand while I'm there. Do any of you have recommendations for backcountry shooting in the area? Is it even a good idea, or is it pretty heavily traveled? Would appreciate any of your thoughts. Here is a picture of the AK I'd likely be bringing, to make this post slightly more interesting.

I don't live near where you're going to vacation..But wow..that's a beautiful AK you got there..where'd you get it? Is that a Galil? I forgot to mention..you should be able to shoot anywhere where you're not near a road against land mass.

Holy crap . . . I don't know anything about shooting in that area, but that's a seriously beautiful rifle! Don't forget to dip it in the snow after shooting corrosive ammo through it.

Probably to late ....and I haven't been there in a while. ..going to have to check it out ...but there's a rock quarry off mosquito Lake Road and then I think you turn on North Fork Road to the left. ... I shot there many times but not in the last 5 years I've heard people still going out there.... It used to have a locked fence on it from a logging company that leased that area but you still park and walk in...but I've then heard they took it down so you can drive back there. Sorry I can't help you more.
