Has anyone had any recent luck with the Capitol Forest pits? I was specifically looking at the site on western side which is listed as Capitol Forest #7. It's a little bit of a journey from my area out there, so I was hoping to see if it might still be a good location before making the drive over there. With the long weekend coming up, it would be a great time to get out.

Oh, and how are the roads out there? 2WD or 4WD?

I haven't been out to 7 in a looong time, but it's a nice area. 2WD all throughout Cap is fine, unless you want to go in the winter... Then may god have mercy on your soul.

Good advice, hopefully just this weekend so 2WD should do. Might be muddy, but my pickup can handle that. Just didn't want to get her stuck.

Site 7 is definitely open for business. I went up there today and although it was rather rainy, the pit looked pretty good. A fair amount of spent shotgun shells, beer cans, and cardboard but no real trash. Still I was able to collect about two bags before I left. And hey, in between the rain I even got in some range time, so that was very good.
