Well don't give up on Range 15. :ROFLMAO:

It's one of the few last places you can shoot from all shooting positions at 300 meters. Just seems like you need to plan ahead.

As for the firearm registration issue.... I did call the Provost and the Firearm/Vehicle Registration
http://www.lewis.army.mil/des/le_veh_registration.htm

As of approx. a couple of months ago. All firearms needs to be registered "on post" and even though this part (Range 15 was not on the secured part of the post... it is still considered Federal property).

This is a change as of last year. Did the post have a change in command? You know new leadership... new rules.

Over the years with different situations the post has ramped up security from time to time. So I guess if you want to make this long journey to shoot - I say just shoot at Tacoma, Paul Bunyon, Renton Fish and Game and/or go up into the hills.

I used to hunt and register my firearm on post when it was Ft Lewis but that was over 2 decades ago. No way I'm going to jump through that many hoops to go shooting. icon_eek

Can you clarify what you mean, please?

Are you saying that Range 15 is now considered to be "on post" and we need to register any firearms that we take to Range 15?

$11 entry fee if I remember correctly (I just bought a $60 membership).

For the distance and the money, it sounds like my best bet. They still prohibit any sort of rapid fire or drawing from a holster, but at least I'm not limited to single loading and it's only a few miles further than RFGC, so that's a win in my book. Thanks!

+1 I think you'll like Issaquah Sportsmans club they are safety conscious but they don't carry it to extremes and treat you like a 3 year old shooting a gun for the first time, which some over zealous folks at RFGC are known to do from time to time. Nothing against RFGC, I have memberships at both places. I just find that Issaquah is a bit more casual. I know they want let you rapid fire there, but they are generally pretty cool there.

So I have not physically been on base since last summer but from talking to the folks at the Firearm Registration and Provost... this part is part of the post which I never argued it was not... it may not be in the secured part but the new ruling is that any firearm brought on "post" be registered.... so this applies to all firearms being shot at Range 15 too.

I was going to call the Range 15 folks during the weekend but I'm not even bothering to clarify. There are too many ranges around... in Kent.
