take i-90 east to exit 47 (tinkham road). turn right at the end of the off ramp. turn right onto tinkham road. follow gravel road for about 1 mile (you will see a turn off on the left) turn left onto this road and follow it up while staying on the main gravel road. at the top, you will see a gravel pit with a couple of shot up cars. this is where you want to be. turn in there and shoot into the berm. good times.
Is this still an ok place to shoot? I googled "Tinkham road shooting" and apparently much of the area up there is closed to shooting. Was going to go up there tomorrow and check it out.

It's a fine place to shoot. I took my boys there two weeks ago and we had a great time. It is VERY messy since most people do not clean up after themselves. We took two 30 gallon garbage bags full of trash out of there so we could leave it better than we found it.
Also, you have a high probability of meeting a member of the Sheriff's dept while you're there. They get regular calls from campers / hikers and the such, so they have to make their obligatory visit. Just be sure that you're cleaning up after yourself and following the rules for shooting on Federal Forest lands. If not, you might get unlucky. I've seen more than one group forced to clean up the area.
Last, the later in the day you shoot, the more likely you're going to be shooting with morons. I'd recommend going early in the morning. Typically the morning crowd is a more responsible group.
...though looking through the maps a bit more, the following actually looks like a reasonable area. But of course, it's impossible to tell from these satellite photos. I can't seem to find any abandoned cars here.
