Like the subject says, I just got the new guy treatment at Renton Fish and Game this evening. I took my newly rebuilt/refinished Mosin down there and shot it for about an hour or so with the wife spotting me at 50 yards. It was the first time shooting this gun, and it did surprisingly well. But this isn't a shout out to my gun, this instead is a shout out to the rifle rangemasters. Thanks guys for setting me up this evening, I had a great shoot.

Nice! While RFGC may have some strict rules, they do have one of the friendliest (and safest) ranges I know.

By new guy treatment, just meant I hadn't shot there before and went through the whole orientation. I wasn't expecting a 20 minute film, but everyone does it their own way and I can accept that.

I did pay for the wife to shoot with me, but she opted to spot instead. She's never been able to do that before, so she had a good time too without throwing lead.

Good to hear... No matter how much shooting... it just takes one time to change your life or someone elses...

For those that don't know... new rifle and pistol shooters have to watch a mandatory safety video and everyone has to fill out the waiver (front and back).

Every range has it's nuiances to safety... that can be historical, by design and layout. Some ranges want your muzzle pointed down, some want it up, some want cases, some want the bolt out... so lots of little details many folks, even experienced shooters may not be used to from a different range.

hint... you can watch the video at home. thumbsup

Side note: I have heard many times from very "experienced" shooters tell me that they are safe... but in reality... they can be safer. Bad habits isn't just trigger/muzzle discipline. You would be amazed.

Lastly: Have you heard about the DEA agent who was teaching gun safety... and shot himself. Just before he did... He said he was the safest in the room with the gun (oops). Famous last words.
