What you do in your personal life is your own business, but when your at my range and I'm RSO'ing, you will practice safe sex. :ROFLMAO:

Thanks. Looks like they do not limit the rate of fire at this range, which is rather surprising actually, but I guess that's because its a members only range not open to public. I will check it out.

Correct. You must ensure all rounds land in the berm. There is also a membership link on the page to sign up, or show up to a safety orientation and check out the range.

I'm in Auburn, a little south of Seattle and close to Federal Way for those not familiar with my area. Fairly new to WA and the local ranges, but but wife and I have been shooting for quite a while in CA.

I prefer to practice my rifle (AR-15) shooting while standing and not sitting down at a table with sandbags, does anyone know of a range around me that is open to public that will allow this? Thanks.

I also live in Auburn, and I usually go shoot my pistol indoors at Federal Way Discount Guns but I recently got an AR-15 and researched exactly what you're asking.

2 weeks ago, I went to Cascade Shooting Facilities, which was only about 20 minutes drive away, and sighted and shot my AR-15 (.223, 18") at their outdoor Range C during their public shoot days. When I arrived around 10am, there was a group of 3 that were just finishing up and it was me and one other person shooting. He left after about 30 rounds. So it was basically just me and the RSO. I shot 4 magazines (120 rounds), sitting (to sight my red dot) and also standing. The RSO was a cool guy and overall a nice day out. Their next public day (due to holidays) is next weekend, so I'm going back then.

Note that on their website, they say that AR Pistols are not allowed if they cannot hit the berm at 200 yards.

See:
https://www.cascadeshootingfacilities.o ... ting-days/

Their membership is closed and waitlist is closed at the moment. Else I'd consider joining them.

Edit/Additional: Oh, they also allow steel cased ammo (I used cheap TulAmmo .223 55gr). You take what you brought in, including sweeping up your spent casings. Bring your own target, staple gun, ammo. They have some wood blocks and carpet pieces, no sandbags. Also they let me borrow their scope for sighting.

Welcome to WaGuns! :wavey:

I'm a Cascade member . . . I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed it. It's a great range, no doubt about it.

Cascade updated their rules a few months ago. The new rule for C range for centerfire guns is that they must have a minimum velocity of 2000 feet per second. All guns, all of the time, must hit the berm behind your target. So, an AR pistol should be fine assuming that you're using typical .223 blasting ammo.

steve did the board say why? whats the reason if there/s a berm all around? for instance a "able to shoot kid who can handle a 45 cant shoot a beebee gun there?

I think it's a good improvement from the old rules. Things have gotten so convoluted with rifles vs. pistols, it just doesn't make any sense anymore to say that you can shoot a rifle but not a pistol. I mean, we have .308 pistols, and .38 Special rifles. Which is more likely to hit the 200-yard berm?

So the new rule doesn't differentiate between rifles and pistols, it just makes sure that you have a flat-shooting round if you're going to shoot on the longer ranges like C.

Get on the waiting list for Cascade in Ravensdale. You'll thank me later.

I think the waiting list is still closed . . . ? Not 100% sure of that.

Even if it's not closed, you'll probably die of old age before you actually get in. I've been on the waitlist since April 2, 2018, and the portal is currently showing my waitlist rank at #131. :facepalm2:

I told them they could just skip you, since you live so far away. :ROFLMAO:

Has your rank changed in the last year? I know they've added a bunch of new members, but I'm not sure if the ranks have been updated. You may be closer than you think.
