I had every intention of being there to help today, but I was browbeaten by Mrs. G4L into staying home to help care for our two cold-stricken toddlers. I'm pretty bummed, to be honest. Thank you to everyone who did make it, though! Your efforts are appreciated.

Three of us camped out near the 435th Ave pit on Friday night.
Scuffy went to the small pit on the Suaittle River Road right after he got home from work and raked up all of the trash in to piles.
On Friday afternoon we took both of the dump trailers and his tractor over and loaded up all of the trash in to the trailers.
This morning on the way to the Rockport transfer station the trailer I had blew a tire.
Had to stop by the big Suaittle River Road pit to borrow a fourway lug wrench to change the tire.

Scuffy called the Rockport transfer station on Thursday to see if we could dump the trailers there and they said YES.
We got there and they have a high curb where you back up to the rool off. The trailers are way to low to dump there so we had to go another fifty miles to the other transfer station.
It was a wash out all day at the pit, the guys got drenched. By the time we got back to the pit they wrapped it up.
I had the coolers with the sod, water & food in the back of my truck.
Caveman Jim we to Darrington and bought stuff to make for the guys & girls.
These people worked their butts off putting all the trash into piles.
I will be meeting Scuffy tomorrow morning at 7:30 so we can run over to the pit and haul the trash out and haul it to the Arlington transfer station.

The two load we took to the transfer station today was $101 a ton
We paid just over $1,000 in tipping fees.

Oh my gosh . . . that sounds like a hell of a day! And still one more to go!

Over $1000 in dump fees, and more to come tomorrow? Can we assume that the donations that you received won't cover that?

Wow. That's a huge cost! I had no idea it would run that much! No, they had not raised that much money! Of the $500+ that Pat raised, a couple hundred went to food. The rest was to be for the dump fees. But with a blown tire, and the cost of fuel to run 2 trailers all that distance, it took a big chunk of what he had raised.

Here's a few pics of that trailer haul (and our camp out). This shows only one trailer but imagine that time two! And this was only from the small pit!

Huge thanks to Don (Scruffy), who brought his tractor and trailers to do this tremendously good deed!

Well I admit I did not think the tab would be so high, but I look at this way. I can afford a $634 gun, I can afford spending $634. I certainly can afford $634 for a huge cause.

This is one of the things that I love about this community, people stepping up when help is needed.
The wife and I donated about $150 today and cooked up some yummy burgers and dogs.
Enjoyed meeting some awesome northern brother’s and sisters, they worked hard in the rain all morning!!! Thank you!!!

Thanks for doing that, Jim! Good call on your part. That was quite an extra effort, and then to cook it all up for everyone! You both were a great asset to this clean up!

That IS awesome. Thank you!

As others have noted the weather really sucked but was a great turnout. Got soaked to the bone but it was well worth it.

Pat, I'll be glad to help out again any time you want to schedule another cleanup. I'll see you at the (shiny new) pits in the near future.

Thanks for coming out and helping, the more the merrier.
