Today Patrick led a group of us to clean up a lot of the Darrington pit. At least 10 garbage bags. Still more to do but if I take my glasses off I can't see any mess there at all now ;)

Shooting lanes look awesome! Thanks users! http://trashnoland.blogspot.com/2020/07/special-shooting-lanes-are-well-cared.html

Send me your report of a random cleanup while shooting! I forward it to the managing forest agency and post it to our social media so people can see responsible gun owners in action.

Another cleanup happened this weekend by Caveman Jim and 7 others in the Capitol State Forest! Way to go Jim!

http://trashnoland.blogspot.com/2020/07/capitol-forest-gets-some-help-from.html

Let me know of any cleanup you've done so I can let the forest officials know and encourage others to do the same! You are the ones who can save our places to shoot!... one shooting site at a time!

Bill

Weekend shooting report for Aug 7-9, 2020. (I'm sure there were other 'Acts' in other forests, but none that I've heard of so far).

Here's the official word from WA DNR about the temporary ban on target shooting on state lands, that went into effect Aug 15, 2020.

https://www.dnr.wa.gov/news/high-fire-danger-across-washington-prompts-ban-shooting-dnr-lands?fbclid=IwAR0aswbJsldsoqQ4eeip2cHPnak_kn4LzarGS6rDEdHfz04XcPAVKeL_HQc

More information on how potential fires could start from target shooting, can be found at:

Forest fire danger high.
Shortage of ammo.

Best not go shooting on public lands for a while!

Spend some quality time cleaning up your favorite place to shoot!

Pack you fire prevention equipment anytime you go out!

Target shooting on WA DNR managed lands is temporarily closed as of Aug 15th. This applies to all state owned land that is managed by DNR. There should be no one shooting on state lands until they lift the ban... (which probably won't be for a while yet.
So this post, is more for those who might want to go shooting in other National Forests, BLM or Oregon State lands (they have not closed yet, but still, we should take a break for a while... just to be on the safe side).

Skip the target shooting on public lands this weekend! It's too hot and fire danger is High (pushing extreme!).

Instead, go out on a mission to clean up! Show your special sportsmanship kind of respect and good old fashioned Stewardship! Spend a couple hours at your favorite shooting site and do some good for the forest and the shooting sports.

Pack your family, trash bags and fire prevention equipment, and plan on a great day of good deeds!

Washington East of Cascades State lands to re-open Friday, Sept 18th.

Copied & pasted from DNR's Facebook page:

RECREATION ALERT UPDATE: Recreation on DNR-managed lands east of the Cascades will reopen on Friday. Thank you for your patience. While fire danger overall has decreased slightly, it is extremely important to stay diligent. Please continue to stay safe, follow all burn bans, and avoid any activities that could cause sparks.

Most of Oregon State forests also are re-opening Friday as well! Both East and West.

Weird. I didn't think it rained much. I guess everything flammable is already gone?
