Long narrow strip of a pit? Just with a big turnoff for a “parking area”?

it's not anything fancy or expansive. Pretty much as you described it.

If you look off to the right about midway up the hill - maybe 200 yards distant, there are (or were) some gongs and other metallic objects to shoot.
