Okay before I start off I have trust so that is a possibility.
From what I understand if I want to e-file for an SBR I have to fill out the paperwork with the serial number that's on the firearm currently. And I guess send in the fingerprints and photos? Then I seen that in and I can pay for the tax stamp with a credit card online. Then I just sit and wait for them to say yes or no. When they say yes at that point I have some predetermined amount of time to take the firearm somewhere and have it engraved.
I have that right?
I understand the other stuff about changing uppers and all that, no issues there. Same with travel and all that.
Then I guess the other part of that question is should I put it on the trust or should I put it on me personally?
You fill out the eForm 1 with make, model, serial #, and barrel length. Upload a copy of the trust, a photograph (doesn't have to be a passport photo - you can take a selfie with your phone), and the Responsible Person Questionnaire (RPQ) for each Responsible Person on your trust. Pay with a credit card, then print off the cover letter that is emailed to you to send in with your fingerprint card (snail mail). Then wait about a month for the approved eForm 1 with stamp to be emailed to you. Once you have that, go get the gun engraved at your leisure. It's pretty straightforward.
EDIT TO CLARIFY: RPQs, photos, and fingerprints for each Responsible Person on your trust

Being focused on the process of obtaining a Glock 17/FAB Cobra SBR, I completely missed another aspect: inability to legally conceal loaded rifle in WA, which makes jumping through the hoops totally pointless for me.

Interesting topic. I was thinking about converting Glock 17 into SBR. Could be a good urban SHTF PDW, IMO.
I have a Glock 23 SBR. Makes for a fun range toy with all the different stock options I can put on it. I also have a 9mm conversion barrel so it has lots of possibilities.

Nice. I wish it was legal to conceal such thing for EDC.
