I dont know if we have had a collective gun room thread yet... I have been thinking about log cabin/sheds. A simple 15x15 or 20x20 room might be good enough. Any widows get covered by steel cages where the bars simply go through the logs to be secured on the inside. Massive security gate/door with anchors through the logs as well. Hook up a solar unit to run a dehumidifier and small heater year round. Add in some LED lights perhaps. Steel roofing and solid slab foundation construction. No more expensive safes needed when the whole unit is a safe. Same could maybe be done with a smaller shipping container, but our property is in the woods with our house and other buildings log construction. If we had a traditional/modern sheetrock construction home, I'd have to cinderblock and rebar line a room I suppose. I like the secureit company's products for lining walls, but the cost is a bit up there for me to justify yet. Would look good in a cargo container room, but I'd prefer some natural wood racks in a log cabin. Having a bunch of big safes in a room is fine, but I suppose ilI just like to daydream a bit. Anyone else?

Slat wall works great. My gun room is severely overloaded. I need to take out the shelves and do a vertical stack near the floor, armory style. And then extend the gun room.

This one is simple. Any room with me in the chair. I have a pretty nice setup, but none of that matters when you don’t have the time to actually sit down and enjoy it.

Your idea is sound, but you need to do a hybrid arrangement to keep the nefarious steal your shit crowd at bay. Use a shipping container for the core, so you have steel all around your stuff, otherwise, an asshole with a chainsaw is in and out in nothing flat when you aren't home.
Frame in the log cabin look including roof so it is esthetically pleasing. On the door end, hinge the entire outside log cabin looking wall complete with fake entry door, to swing open or swing up for access to the inner shipping container doors. Now, you have the look, the security, and the peace of mind all in one package.
Make the container a high roof version, and do a forty footer. Half for ammo and reloading, half for racking up your collection of lotion and sock gun porn.

I have the secureit 6 gun kit I'm going to install in my mini-camper/trailer.

I keep thinking I just want to build one underground. Like a root cellar but with a concrete floor (instead of dirt). Would be pretty much any disaster proof, flooding would be the only real concern but that it's easy to build drainage in during the construction phase. Still have to pay for a vault door but you can get cast-in-place style doors from most safe companies. Have to run electrical for lights and possibly a dehumidifier but the temp should stay pretty constant down there. If someone really want's in they could still break in but they are going to have to work for it with demo saws and torches.

I think we can all agree that any determined thief with enough time and materials can get into anything we can make, but just the idea of a self contained room is what I'd like. Really been thinking about cost-free heating, dehumidifying, and lighting it today. I like the cellar idea as well. Even 5he readymade culvert/shelters. A guy can dream, right?

As soon as I get the bench & assembly table completed I'll take the time to post up a few pics. It is not a man cave but will be a fully functional reloading/gun room.

Feel free to share if you come up with a solid plan, I'd like to be ready if the power goes out & to save $$$ for more components & parts. I just built a 10x12 fully insulated & sealed tight room in my shop. It is almost finished excep for cabinets, bench & assembly table.
