I've been chatting with SAGELA about this subject . . . just how the hell you're supposed to see the sights (close to you) and the target (far away) using the same pair of glasses, and the same part of the glasses. I don't want to be tipping my head up and down using bifocal-type glasses to see both distances.
He received a recommendation to use glasses that are 0.5 diopter higher than what you would use for distance vision.
In my case, I use reading glasses that are +1.75, but I have good distance vision so I don't use glasses for that. So, going with that recommendation, I took my distance prescription (0.0) and added 0.5, and I bought safety glasses that are +0.5 diopter:

slightly blurry but not bad at all -- not enough to be troublesome.
Holding a handgun in a shooting stance, the front sight is nearly sharp . . . no perfect, but pretty good. Holding a rifle, the front sight is quite sharp.
This might be just the ticket. I'm hoping for the best with my next range visit!
