If I'm reading the manual correctly it looks like I need to get a whole new barrel to convert my Tavor from RH to LH???

I don't think you HAVE to get a whole new barrel. IWI sells the kits WITH a barrel because then the head-spacing has been checked (it's a matched set).

I asked one of the counter guys at wca about LH/RH conversions. They said IWI made people send it in for LH/RH conversions specifically for headspacing. I think MD is correct about the kit.

F***!!!!! :angryfire:
One of the reasons I got the Tavor because I thought it was convertable like a lot of other guns.
Just like my Sig, push a button pull the charging handle out, and just stick it on the other side.

Wait.. you didn't research it BEFORE you bought it?

In all reality, it's a 5 min swap, as long as your barrel works with both bolts (headspacing).

This.
Finding one has become harder and harder. The bullpup forums has a decent market place and have seen some posted there.

I think iwi was charging 125ish for new bolt and the swap but like I said shipping the rifle was super expensive.

I do not claim to be an expert, I did not sleep at a Holiday Inn lastnight. However I just did a LH -> RH conversion on mine, but I have not fired it yet.

If all you want to do is switch the ejection only, it is a quick and simple swap provided you have a LH bolt that matched headspace with your barrel. 5-10min to swap the LH bolt in, another couple minutes if that to swap the barrel. The info I have heard about headspace is the same as already mentioned. They sell the conversion as a kit now due to headspace issues in the past. I just got a Tavor that the PO had already had converted to LH by The Marksman who checked the headspace. The gun came with the factory RH bolt as well which was already headspace matched, so I swapped back to RH last weekend. The time consuming part comes with swapping the charge handle and cover plate.

Headspace is the killer and important part, Sorry Chuck.

Video on the full swap over:

I think the X95 is RH/LH swappable without parts?

Sort of, just did not think it required sending it in and paying a bunch of money. :facepalm2:
Thought it just took a few minutes of flipping a couple of pieces from one side to the other. I might just put my Vortex AMG, and go RH with both eyes open. After all it's not a long range sniper rifle.

Shipping would be just to IWI USA, not back to the homeland..

I just want to say, I have a left handed Tavor and I LOVE it!

That is all.

Oh, here's a shameless pic of mine:

Thanks lam. $140 isn't too bad, and you get the original bolt back.
"A conversion is $124.00 plus a $15 flat rate return shipping for a total of $139.00. You’ll receive your original bolt back as well as a barrel wrench and can perform any future conversions yourself by following the instructions provided in the owner’s manual."

Yeah and at that point I think your rifle honestly gains value as it is dialed in for either setup from then on. I considered selling my bolt breifly when I converted it to RH, but to me it was not worth the risk to new owner and felt the gun had more value being able to swap back and forth.

Mine is RH only, which is the way that God intended it to be.
