I'm playing around with my 10/22 and have discovered what it likes and doesn't like. These are all at 50 yards, rifle in a steady sled (sand bagged) All 40 grains. Blazer is the clear winner. What other types of 22LR should I try?
Top to bottom: Federal Target Match Browning CCI Blazer

It is a quiet reduced powder round, subsonic. It sounds like a pellet gun when used in a rifle, will not cycle semi-auto. I rarely use semi-auto, so perfect for us. We use the Longs more than the shorts... I just haven't done the accuracy comparison between the two variations yet. After the house gets done I'll do that comparison and post it up if someone doesn't beat me to it.
ETA: You mentioned the 10/22. A great gun, and I have several. Not knocking the platform, but these quiet rounds won't cycle a 10/22.
The other reduced powder and primer only 22 rounds by other manufacturers are often even quieter, but I've found more variation in velocity than the CCI CB22. The one by Aguila is so quiet that you can hear the firing pin strike the rim of the cartridge. I'd be concerned about a humane kill with that one. 420 FPS... hah https://www.cabelas.com/product/Aguila- ... 324179.uts
In my 10/22, I get the best target groups from CCI Blazer 40gr LRN. I like the CCI Mini Mag 40gr CPRN, too, but the Blazer is cheaper and seems to be easier to find.
Remington and Winchester are total crap - I won't buy them anymore. Federal bulk 36gr CPHP is cheap and fairly consistent; that's what I use for varmints. But when I'm punching paper, my go-to is Blazer. I've never shelled out the money for .22 LR match ammo because I've never been convinced I need (or will get) precision performance from a semi-auto rimfire. It just doesn't seem like it would be worth it.

I don’t shoot my .22s for extreme accuracy, and I’ve recently concluded — after years of chasing the cheap stuff — that life’s to short to fight with your gun at the range. So screw it, I’m switching to CCI Mini-Mags for semi-auto use, since they seem to be the most reliable.
Target Sports USA has them for 6 cents/round, shipped, if you buy a case. Works for me.

Well, can’t argue on those merits. Good point and for cost - it’s a no brainer

I remember when Blazer was considered the bottom of the barrel for .22 ammo. It's my favorite too. Works in all my .22 semi auto's.

Yeah, there was actually a time when I stayed away from Blazer because everyone told me it was crap. Well, I got a really good deal on it one day and decided to see if what I'd been hearing was true. It fed reliably, ejected reliably, and grouped reliably. Ever since then, I've been a fan.

Depends on the gun. My M-41 really likes CCI Standard velocity My Kimber All American Match rifle perfers CCI green tag My buckmarks seem to shoot great with almost any ammo. Just picked up some Eley Sport bulk pack that I'm excited to play with too.

Quite right. Won't cycle in a semi. I have a near mint 1922 Remington Model 24C in .22 Short. It doesn't work properly with any modern .22 Short ammo, so I bought a vintage .22 Short collection. 100% reliable now, and sounds like a pellet gun or like there is a can on it.

I haven’t shot any of it yet either. I know MadPick hasn’t either...
How do you know that?! I'll have you know that I've been to the range TWICE in the last week or so with .22s, and I've taken a bunch of different ammo!
I honestly forget to shoot .22's. I don't have the chance to shoot often enough, so that when I do I end up choosing more "fun" (and by fun, I mean big) guns to shoot. This thread is a great reminder to get out and blast a bunch of small holes in some paper for cheap.
