That's how a got a great deal on it. Guy and his wife rode horses but decided it was too nice a rifle to pack along in a scabbard, didn't want to scratch it. I just keep it in a sock in the safe, bring it out once in awhile to admire it. Was thinking about a presentation display case for it or something. Ya, it is a beauty. As far as short chamber, I'd work around what your 45-70 likes. Only had one or two loads that wouldn't chamber all the way in my Miroku (Winchester) 1886. You have an excellent rifle designed by the greatest firearm designer in history, JMB and built by a renowned company. Enjoy it. I wouldn't change a thing. Load to what makes your rifle happy.

Not really something I did, but it is something I did. Maybe this belongs in a random thoughts thread.
Daughter today, "Can you move or put away these guns? I'm tired of tripping on them." That's happiness right there....

Local gunsmith just finished work on my shotgun (feeding problems) and I was able to pick it up before we have a county wide stay-in-place order that takes effect at midnight tonight. Just in the nick of time.
Changed flashlight mounts on my shottie and will soon be ordering a new Elzetta Alpha (1 cell) weapon light.

I took the final step to becoming a full-fledged YouTube-certified gunsmith.
