The 24" barrel arrived, screwed it on and took it for a test drive. Been shooting 100yds with SK Long Range the first 300rds it's doing 3/4" average. Couldn't get comfy behind the Manners PRS stock so switched to a MDT Timbr which arrived today. Going to need to get the comb height even higher with the Ivey mount but for now it should do 300yds without modification.

Assembled the RimX 22LR. Using a Lothar-Walther 1:16 20.5" barrel for now. Have a Lothar-Walther 1:12 24" barrel on order and it won't be ready for 2-4mos. Used the SAC Modular Barrel Vise for the first time and its nice to have the right tools as installing the barrel onto the receiver was super quick and easy. Used the barrel vise to install the EC Tuner. Shimmed and timed it too!

Completed the G31 frame I got to replace the unreliable P80 for my Glock longslide .357/.40 project from 2021. Dryfire is encouraging. Thinking I need a weighted frame plug/magwell next. Any inexpensive but quality frame stipplers out there anymore? Want to remove the Gen3 finger grooves too. But this will all be after a lot of dryfire and range time.

Finished the AK furniture project. Lesson learned: don't expect much out of factory finished wood. If you want a clean slate, you need unfinished. I wanted a more 'Eastern Bloc Orange' look to the wood on this Century AK, which came from Vermont with a decent oil finish. I thought I sanded that away and treated the wood, but it didn't take the water-based orange stain (Minwax Tangerine) very well, so I went over it with oil-based Sedona Red. Couple of coats of poly later and done. A US Palm 'Bakelite' grip and Tromix extended charging handle knob too. Next looking for a reasonable standard side-mount scope rail (not Chinese junk) and a better muzzle device.

I think it looks just fine.

Coldbore Customs is the way to go if you want to pay for stipling, grip reductions, and/or finger groove removal, but I've done all that myself with great results.

A candle, sandpaper, soldering iron...ain't hard at all. The gun I've been carrying lately is done that way, looks great, feels perfect.
