Aero EPC-9 upper arrived today. Pretty straightforward to strip down the existing Guntec and throw the parts on to the Aero. The LRBHO lever was too positive out of the box (it held open even with a round in the mag) so I had to bend the bar a little. Overcorrected and then found the sweet spot.
Good snap caps are an absolute must with this kind of build in order to check function. Never use live ammo!
Next up is firing test...

Firing test went...okay. Worked 100% with Glock 13rnd mags but the SGM 26rnd over-inserted if I slammed them home, leading to failure-to-feed as the bolt scraped over the stop. I tightened down the set screws but I wish there was a better way to truly lock down that mag insertion stop.

Impulse purchases a Stoeger Condor online through Cabelas. Went to pick it up today ... 1 hour 30 minutes waiting in queue for 4 people in front of me then 15 minutes to clear 4473 and leave.
Except for 7.62x51, 450 bushmaster and 224 valkyrie there was no ammo.
Food court closed.
No point in ever going there again.

Went to the range today and shot dad's J.C. Higgins Model 50 in .270 Win. It was his hunting rifle in the 50's and he brought lots of venison home with it. I have been getting good results with a starting load (51.0 grains) of Hodgdon H100V and Hornady 130 gr. SST bullets.

I've concluded that God just didn't intend for the AR platform to fire 9mm cartridges. For my pistol-caliber 3-gun matches I've switched from the 9mm AR to the Ruger PC Carbine. It just works. (And yes, I recognize that there are many 9mm ARs out there that probably work just fine, and I've way over-generalizing here.)

Went through the safe and did my annual FA check. All A OK. Can’t wait for grouse season!!! Looked through the AR parts bins and took inventory, damn I must’ve put a lot of stuff into the SSSB... It’s all good.

Cracked stock repair. Epoxied the crack now I’m drilling holes down across the crack and I will epoxy in some round tooth picks. I’d much rather use bamboo skewers. But they are just too big in diameter for this repair. And yes this will be an obvious repair. But I’m ok with that.

^ Nice. I'd be interested to see more before and after pics, if you're so inclined.

Well I’ll show more photos but you can’t kick me off the forum. Because technically this is not a “firearm “ What it is is an RWS Diana Mdl 45 .177 cal air rifle. Made in the early ‘80s This is a repair made by one of the previous owners. Right side of the gun. This is a new crack and why the person sold the gun. Left side of stock. Here you can see the original repair. The q-tip is where the stock screw go through. So a weak spot in the stock. And this is where I’m at right now. After this I’ll glass bed the forend all around those screw holes. Actually filling them in and re drilling the holes. This is a break barrel rifle so there is a lot of force on this spot when you break open and slam close the barrel.

Haha, I love air rifles too . . . there shall be no banning today! Looking good so far. I like seeing this process, one day I may even be brave enough to do it myself.
