So...it’s pretty hard to drill through 3/8” AR400...Would have thought? Anyone got a plasma cutter?

For targets or armor?

You need a water jet. Plasma will ruin the temper on AR400

Target. How else do they cut the stuff?

Honestly I don't think you're going to find a shop to custom make targets cheaper than what you can find online.

I got a 15"x12" 3/8" AR400 plate cut from a larger piece for $20. Just a few minutes down the street at Interwest Metals which is next to the Harley shop. The owner is a shooter and they have a mega ton of metals. Who doesn't like going to the hardware store? For me that's a win/win. They even had some 5/8" for those that like shoot full power rifle magnum loads at 50 yds and get ricochet frags.

I've attempted getting at the plate with my mill and some carbide cutters. That stuff has a core that is HARD, so it seems. I had some nice chips to start but soon after, nothing. I even went about annealing the two spots I want to put the holes in. Still no go. I may just stick to setting it against a berm until I get something figured out.

If you cannot cut hole through it, would be easier to spot weld some 'eye' hooks on the top of the plate so you could attach to a chain or similar then hang it. Just thinking of a work around.

Ordered a Glock 80%, black. $99.

Received my PSA full 5.56 kit, blem. Less lower.

Picked up my PSA AR-10 assembled lower from Fall City Firearms, chatted it up. Got some different NO signs. Put signs up.

Ordered a holster for the Ruger American, and a bunch of clearance AR parts. Guess I'll be doing a red pistol.

Woods shoot day!

Tested my AC-Unity AK 60rnd quad mag. Also first shoot for my Arsenal AK. Fighter AK brake, Magpul Zhukov stock + AK grip, K-VAR optic mount, Ultradot 30mm red dot.

My thoughts: Decent range toy but definitely NOT betting my life on it. It is a real thumb buster to load (I usually load 30rnd mags one handed, this one is a two hander braced against my thigh) and I think the follower binds up inside and there is some rattle (lack of tension). I loaded it and unloaded a couple times which seemed to help, but my thumb is hamburger.

Follow-up:

Decided to get that 60rnd mag working, or send it back to the mothership. Lifetime warranty and all.

When loading, it just wanted to hang up at about round 18. Every time. Two rounds were getting stuck at that transition from 4 to 2. Put it in the vise, tried to remove the baseplate, no dice. Probably not enough force, but this is polymer. Can't just grab a hammer and punch.

So I sprayed some Teflon lube inside, around the follower, and let it drain down a bit. Y'know, the big cans you can buy at Home Depot for $4, mostly used for bike chains and such. Really just civilian CLP. I know, don't wet lube your mags, but I'm not taking this thing to Afghanistan. Not worried about dust and grime as much as function.

What do you know? I loaded all 60 up, and the last required hardly more pressure than the first.

I'd do a range test, but now is not the time to go into the woods and blaze away.
