Obviously a training image, the uniform is to clean and neat. No idea what the line running from the muzzle and launcher interface is. No idea how the weapon was aimed. Grenade launcher site, top view. Site mounted.

Garand with scout mount and scope, Boyd's laminated stock. Suspect the green metal is painted.

Rear sight cover. Suspect this is Danish Navy. 7.62 NATO referred to 30.06 (7.62x63) before the introduction of .308 Winchester as 7.62x51 NATO.

Navy guns and others were chambered in 7.62x51.
Well known documented part of Garand history.
Sight cover looks like a custom laser etch job done for someone, maybe.

"Do you have any more info on referring to 30-06 as 7.62 Nato?" No. What I do have is memories of German ammo cans marked 7.62x63. Said cans were produced in Europe, primarily from 1946 to 1956. Much European 30-06 (i.e. HXP) was not marked 7.62x63. Have seen written references to 7.62x63. The Garand saw wide usage in several NATO nations and was manufactured in large numbers by Breda and Beretta in Italy. A lot of 30-06 produced for NATO consumption in Europe was Berdan primed. And there is this from Russia: Anyone know what the band like indentation near the base of these steel cartridges is for?
