Apologies in advance for newbie questions or just asking dumb shit. Going to buy a few more handguns before the dims make the restrictions or impediments any more outrageous. The specific models I'm looking at only come with standard capacity 17 round mags. The dealer/FFL says I can buy them but the mags must either be forfeit or I can ship them to someone out of state. Well, I'd hate for them to go to waste. So is there anyone here from Oregon, Idaho or Montana that I can ship them to? They would be S&W M&P9 M2.0 magazines.

I’m confused.
You constantly say you’re a “newbie gun owner”, but you’ve been on here for 3 years, and nearly all of your questions are about circumventing the law.

He’s asking if anybody from a different state wants mags, which the FFL can ship to.
Not sure what law he is circumventing.
And I also suggest you refresh on #1 and 8 of the CoC. If you think a member is not complying with #5, don’t go all TW on him, report to your favorite mod.

I did join the site three years ago, and I have learned a lot since then, but I assure you I am very much still a newbie gun owner. And what questions have I asked about circumventing the law? Not sure what law he is circumventing. Yes, thank you. Basically I'd hate to see them wasted by forfeiting to the state.

Just my opinion here but I'd keep them. (if you already have them) Who knows, the law might get repealed. If you don't have them yet and the gun comes with them, offer them up to those that live in free states. Don't know what else you can or could do.

The point here is that they will ship to the FFL with the gun, but the FFL cannot give them to him. I guess it’s a matter of what the mags are worth. Are they worth enough to justify the postage to someone out of state, plus the FFL’s fee (presumably) to handle/ship them? They may not be. You might just wind up donating them to the FFL….

Says the guy who lives in Idaho. Big hint, right there.

You could make it easy on yourself and 'forfeit' them to the transferring dealer. He can keep them, and do what he wants with them... throw them away, ship them out of state, or have them collect in a box in the back room until St. Thomas (hopefully) saves us.

The FFL can sell them for you and probably charge a fee
Your FFL can mail them to me and I can sell them, paying for shipping twice. I can also hold onto them until (hopefully) the law gets overturned
No great options

I wish I could keep them. Yeah, the retail on the mags is ~$45 so I guess I'll have to see what the shipping costs and fees are like. I'll be ordering the gun on Monday. If the costs are reasonable I'd much prefer to ship them to one of you guys then let the FFL keep them. They have probably retained many hundreds if not thousands of magazines already because of this insane law.

I request they put my mags as a free gift in the next order going to Oregon with a note to pay it forward.
I guess they probably don't but I try.

Tell them to throw them away and put it on the curb.... At that point they have officially relinquished its ownership, and you are free to dumpster dive. At that point you'd be the only one breaking the law.
