Pistol design from Russia - was that tried before?
Looks interesting...

Interesting. Not sure if it’s worth reinventing the wheel for though.

If the mag is empty, how does the last case get ejected?

Not too sure on how the locking block drops, either.

Listed claims in Russian article on advantages of the geometry of this design (there's no actual fully functional prototypes AFAIK)

1. Lowering overall height of the gun on average 20mm while keeping the grip size - could make it competitive for compact guns for concealed carry. So one could have G19 grip in G26 overall form factor.

2. Reduction of recoil angular momentum up to 30%
3. Naturally better ergonomics of the grip (place for a grip notch at the top)
4. Low line of aiming reduces amplitude of side-to-side oscilations up to 25% reducing time to first shot and improving "point shooting" accuracy.

5. 20mm lower center of mass (faster target re-aquisition after lateral repositioning of aim point)
6. Practically straight feed from the top of magazine into a chamber results in higher feed reliability with various types of ammo.

(It's a bit unusual to see that they make the one-off non-functional geometry-proof prototype in actual steel :) 3D printers apparently are still a hard to come by there.. )

If all true and it works I think it is pretty darn good reason to re-invent this wheel :)

Although to me the shape of the gun does not look esthetically pleasing to my eye. :) Looks a bit "gangsta" to me :) Low aim line also will get a lot to get used to. Manufacturing and maintaining of radial slide pathway over thousands of rounds could be problematic. And mainly the ejection sequence (after chambering the round) looks a bit weird to me - looked like stovepipe and other nasties just waiting to happen... I'm not specialist in handgun design (just enjoy shooting and carrying my 45cal Glock and FNX :) ) - will be interesting to see if they can make it into a working prototype.

This is an excellent question! Looks like the last case will be just shoved back in :) Perhaps they are still working kinks out :)

Seems like it would impart a lot of downward pressure on the frame as it cycled back. Also ejecting brass forward above the line of fire seems like it could have some potentially dangerous results if a subsequent round struck the ejected brass.

They actually claim that this downward pressure reduces recoil angular momentum ("kick up" leverage) about 27-30% - which from physics point of view makes sense. But yeah, ejection raises some questions - although direction-wise the ejection ramp I'd think can be made forward-and-to-the side. This could be a problem for reloaders bending the bronze case edges as it hits the ejection ramp... However Russians prefer steel-cased ammo anyways... Also was wondering about double-stack magazines - could a be a problem to align cartridge during the feed... Looks like a lot of details are missing from the conceptual design description. Would be interesting to see if they can make it work. Although actual working implementation can turn out too complex...

The closest similar design is angled linear slide concept patented in USA in 2008, published in 2011 by Randy Neroni : https://www.freepatentsonline.com/8037805.html
