Hello All,
New member & new resident to Washington here.

I’ll be residing in King county and was curious if the Idaho enhanced carry permit obtained automatically allows you to carry in the state of Washington? Meaning, do you need to notify the police or fill out and papers- submit for anything?

I asked legalheat, the group that offers the “enhanced concealed carry” in Idaho permit and their info seems to contradict what I’ve read elsewhere.

This was their response:
Washington is a MAY issue license which means it is at the discretion of the sheriff in the county in which you apply if you are approved. You will have to submit your paper work and fingerprints for your permit before you are able to carry. The instructor for the class will also explain everything in detail on how to apply as well.

Any helpful insight would be much appreciated!

If you are a resident of Washington, you need a Washington permit to carry concealed.

This.

And the part about WA being a may-issue state is 100% false. It’s disturbing that a company like that would get it wrong.

Welcome to WA, and to WaGuns! :wavey:

Yes to above.

As a Washington resident it over rides whatever else you may own or have for conceal carry. So as a resident of WA go get your WA CPL (concealed pistol license).

As a non resident visiting Washington State - Washington State recognizes other states (See current list with WA Attorney General Reciprocity list) https://www.atg.wa.gov/concealed-pistol ... eciprocity

The Idaho Enhanced License is recognized by WA State. But only as a non resident. As mentioned above as a resident of WA you need a WA CPL.

Most states require you to have your home state permit/license before applying for any non resident conceal. WA hasn’t gone that far yet for non residents but has made it required to have WA CPL if a WA resident.

As for notification or letting King County or any county/local LEO know in WA. No
