Depending which range you use, we should compare the modern LWRC to my semi Thompson.

I can already tell you, the LWRC weighs 90% less.

Yeah the Thompson is one heavy beast. And even at it’s ridiculous weight it still rises up on you in full auto. Takes a bit of getting used to.

I shipped my SMG-45 back to LWRC on 4/12/21; I received it today, 6/29/21. Here's my description of the problem (they chopped off some niceties at the beginning), and the changes that they made:

Yup . . . new barrel, front bushing plate, mag catch, feed ramp, yoke, and breech block.

Up next, range trip!

Well, I got it to the range today; I took the gun and three mags that I had previously marked as being very problematic.

I shot four full mags, so just about a hundred rounds, and I stopped several times mid-mag to clear the gun, then re-load and resume. I had it fail to go into battery a few times with the first round of the mag (when I released the bolt catch), but otherwise it shot flawlessly.

And now, as I sit here typing this up, I'm realizing that I loaded all of the mags with 26 rounds . . . and they are only rated as 25-round mags. So maybe that 26th round was just too tight? I'll have to try them with 25 rounds.

Next up was an accuracy test, the best I could do with the range I was at (max 50 feet) and the time I had. I shot a 5-round group of my reloads at 50 feet, and the group size was about 0.5". Mr. Q is looking at 25-yard shooting, so my group is about the equivalent of 0.75" at 75 feet. That was with a suppressor; I did function testing without the suppressor, but no accuracy testing.

All in all . . . promising.

Why did you stop several times mid mag to clear the gun?

Nothing to do with the gun. The range went cold, I stopped to change targets, adjusting the red dot, etc.

Damnit. Works been busy af and home projects taking up all my time. I need to get back out there and do some accuracy testing. Sounds like you’re having better results than I.
