Well, own a few of each. But would have to go with the AK.
The Simonov (SKS) was obsolete within a couple years after it first came out.

AK, but nothing wrong with an SKS (M) they take AK mags but are hard to find....and cost as much as an AK.

Haven't priced them out recently, but the whole appeal of the SKS was that they were around $100

There was also a book sold at gun shows in the 90's showing how to convert it to full auto "For informational purposes only"
